Have you ever thought
about the information that is on the internet about yourself that people can
find? What is your “image” on the internet? How much information about your
personal life do people have access to? Do I share my name with anyone in the
world? And if so, how many? There are so many different questions you could ask
yourself about the information you can find online. While doing the research
you could possibly find things you didn’t know about yourself. Of course, there
is that possibility that it isn’t you but it’s tied to your name somehow. We
need to know what’s out there so we can correct things and improve our online
image.
Max Benson
is a student at Utah
State University. I knew that without a little “online stalking”. He is
actually friends with a lot of my friends. However, I have never talked to him.
He is pretty good friends with some of my family that lives in Hyde Park, Utah.
I would have never known that if it wasn’t for this project in one of my
classes. I had to mention this was for a class so I didn’t come off as a
creeper. However, we all know we have “stalked” someone online before. Maybe,
not to this extent but, we have looked up someone we didn’t know to get to know
them a little better. Anyways, back to writing about Max.
Max
Benson is studying Marketing and currently part of the Society of International
Business and Economic Development. He is a Peer Advisor as well. You can tell
he is very involved in school activities. He is originally from Oregon, and is
an Oregon University fan.
Max
enjoys running. He ran cross country in High School for Sky View High School in
Smithfield Utah. His senior year he ran at the Murray
Invitational Max ran the 5,000 Meters in 21 minutes 39.5 seconds. Max seems
to be in-shape and enjoys fitness. Running 5,000 meters for any reason does not
appeal to many people.
Max seems to be an
adventurous person. He has many photos of him out and about in the woods, by a
river, and he shows his love of photography. He gets pretty creative with his
pictures and selfies. He enjoys doughnuts, and actually created a picture of
him with a doughnut. It was pretty funny as you go back a little through his
Facebook and Instagram you see that there is an “inside joke” or meaning with
this doughnut. Or maybe he really enjoys doughnuts? You can see that a lot of
thought went into this picture. He bought a shirt with doughnuts on it a little
before this picture was taken. He then posts this masterpiece of a picture with
him posing with a doughnut.
He
worked at the Playmill Theatre from April 2013- December 2013. This made me
think more about him being adventurous. It is nerve racking to be in front of
hundreds of people performing. Max seems to enjoy the “rush” of performing
live, and being put into uncomfortable situations. This shows that he is
creative as well. Along with his picture taking he enjoys creating new things
on the stage.
Max is
involved with the University and is always promoting new ideas, clubs, and
events going on with the school. Is this part of his job experience or is it
something he enjoys to do? Like as in a hobby? He ran for Mr. USU, and for Mr. Congeniality.
He won Mr. Congeniality, which proves he is well liked by his peers. He
mentions that he was grateful for that experience, and mentions everyone who
was involved. So you see that he really cares for others, and that stands out
for a lot of people! He seems to be very optimistic and courageous. It takes a
lot of courage to do some of the thing Max has done with his theatre career and
his competitions at his school. Overall, I can say that Max seems like a great
friend, and people enjoy being around him.
